1 Chronicles 25

1 Additionally, David and the commanders of the army set apart some of the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun to prophesy with the accompaniment of lyres, harps, and cymbals. The following is the list of the men who performed this service:

2 From the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asarelah. These sons of Asaph were under the direction of Asaph, who prophesied under the direction of the king.

3 From the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah—six in all—under the direction of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with the harp, giving thanks and praise to the LORD.

4 From the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti-ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth.

5 All these sons of Heman the king’s seer were given him through the promises of God to exalt him, for God had given Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.

6 All these were under the direction of their fathers for the music of the house of the LORD with cymbals, harps, and lyres, for the service of the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman were under the direction of the king.

7 Together with their relatives, who were all trained and skillful in the songs of the LORD, they numbered 288.

8 They cast lots for their duties, young and old alike, teacher as well as pupil.

9 The first lot, which was for Asaph, fell to Joseph, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all; the second to Gedaliah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

10 the third to Zaccur, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

11 the fourth to Izri, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

12 the fifth to Nethaniah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

13 the sixth to Bukkiah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

14 the seventh to Jesarelah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

15 the eighth to Jeshaiah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

16 the ninth to Mattaniah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

17 the tenth to Shimei, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

18 the eleventh to Azarel, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

19 the twelfth to Hashabiah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

20 the thirteenth to Shubael, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

21 the fourteenth to Mattithiah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

22 the fifteenth to Jeremoth, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

23 the sixteenth to Hananiah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

24 the seventeenth to Joshbekashah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

25 the eighteenth to Hanani, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

26 the nineteenth to Mallothi, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

27 the twentieth to Eliathah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

28 the twenty-first to Hothir, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

29 the twenty-second to Giddalti, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

30 the twenty-third to Mahazioth, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;

31 and the twenty-fourth to Romamti-ezer, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all.

1 ¶ Moreover David and the captains of the host separated to the service of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals: and the number of the workmen according to their service was:

2 Of the sons of Asaph; Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asarelah, the sons of Asaph under the hands of Asaph, which prophesied according to the order of the king.

3 Of Jeduthun: the sons of Jeduthun; Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with a harp, to give thanks and to praise the LORD.

4 Of Heman: the sons of Heman; Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamtiezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, [and] Mahazioth:

5 All these [were] the sons of Heman the king's seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.

6 All these [were] under the hands of their father for song [in] the house of the LORD, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of God, according to the king's order to Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman.

7 So the number of them, with their brethren that were instructed in the songs of the LORD, [even] all that were cunning, was two hundred fourscore and eight.

8 ¶ And they cast lots, ward against [ward], as well the small as the great, the teacher as the scholar.

9 Now the first lot came forth for Asaph to Joseph: the second to Gedaliah, who with his brethren and sons [were] twelve:

10 The third to Zaccur, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:

11 The fourth to Izri, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:

12 The fifth to Nethaniah, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:

13 The sixth to Bukkiah, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:

14 The seventh to Jesharelah, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:

15 The eighth to Jeshaiah, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:

16 The ninth to Mattaniah, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:

17 The tenth to Shimei, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:

18 The eleventh to Azareel, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:

19 The twelfth to Hashabiah, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:

20 The thirteenth to Shubael, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:

21 The fourteenth to Mattithiah, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:

22 The fifteenth to Jeremoth, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:

23 The sixteenth to Hananiah, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:

24 The seventeenth to Joshbekashah, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:

25 The eighteenth to Hanani, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:

26 The nineteenth to Mallothi, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:

27 The twentieth to Eliathah, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:

28 The one and twentieth to Hothir, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:

29 The two and twentieth to Giddalti, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:

30 The three and twentieth to Mahazioth, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:

31 The four and twentieth to Romamtiezer, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve.

1 And David and the captains of the host separated the prophets from among the sons of Asaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun, with harps, and psalteries, and cymbals: and they were numbered for the work according to their ministration.

2 Of the sons of Assaph: Zacur, Joseph, Nethaniah, Azarela, sons of Assaph, of Assaph, which prophesied with the king.

3 From Jedithun. The children of Jedithun were: Gedaliah, and Zori, and Jesaiah, and Hashabiah, and Mathithiah, the six of them under Jedithun their father, with harps prophesying to give thanks and praise unto the LORD.

4 From Heman. The children of Heman were: Bukiah, Mathaniah, Uzziel, Zebuel, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Eliatha, Gidalthi, Romamthi-eser, Jazbekasa, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahesioth.

5 These were all the children of Heman, the king's shaker in the words of GOD to lift up the horn; for GOD had given Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.

6 These were all of their fathers, Assaph, Jedithun, and Heman, to sing in the house of the LORD with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, after the service of the house of GOD with the king.

7 And the number of them, and of their brethren that were instructed in the song of the LORD, all of them masters, were two hundred fourscore and eight.

8 And they cast lots for their office at once, both for the least and for the greatest, for the teacher and for the pupil.

9 And the first lot fell upon Joseph from among Asaph. And the second lot fell upon Gedaliah, and upon his brethren, and upon his sons, which were twelve.

10 The third to Sakur, and his sons, and his brethren, which were twelve.

11 The fourth to Jezri, and his sons, and his brethren, which were twelve.

12 The fifth to Nethaniah, and to his sons, and to his brethren, which were twelve.

13 The sixth to Bukiah, and his sons, and his brethren, which were twelve.

14 The seventh to Jezreelah, and his sons and his brethren, which were twelve.

15 And the eighth, Isaiah, and his sons, and his brethren, which were twelve.

16 The ninth to Jonathan, and to his sons, and to his brethren, which were twelve.

17 And the tenth to Shimei, and to his sons, and to his brethren, which were twelve.

18 The eleventh to Azareel, and his sons, and his brethren, were twelve.

19 The twelfth to Hashabiah, and to his sons, and to his brethren: they were twelve.

20 And the thirteenth to Subael, and his sons, and his brethren, which were twelve.

21 The fourteenth to Mathithiah, and to his sons, and to his brethren, which were twelve.

22 The fifteenth to Jeremoth, and his sons, and his brethren, which were twelve.

23 The sixteenth to Hananiah, and to his sons, and to his brethren, which were twelve.

24 The seventeenth to Jazbekasa, and his sons, and his brethren, which were twelve.

25 The eighteenth to Hanani, and his sons, and his brethren, which were twelve.

26 The nineteenth to Mallothi, and his sons, and his brethren, which were twelve.

27 And the twentieth to Eliatha, and to his sons, and to his brethren, which were twelve.

28 The twenty and first to Hothir, and to his sons, and to his brethren, which were twelve.

29 The twenty and second to Gidalthi, and his sons, and his brethren, which were twelve.

30 The twenty and third to Mahesioth, and his sons, and his brethren, which were twelve.

31 The four and twentieth of Romamthiezer, and his sons and his brethren, which were twelve.
