Majority Standard Bible

1 Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 We are obligated to thank God for you all the time, brothers, as is fitting, because your faith is growing more and more, and your love for one another is increasing.

4 That is why we boast among God’s churches about your perseverance and faith in the face of all the persecution and affliction you are enduring.

5 All this is clear evidence of God’s righteous judgment. And so you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering.

6 After all, it is only right for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you,

7 and to grant relief to you who are oppressed and to us as well. This will take place when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels

8 in blazing fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.

9 They will suffer the penalty of eternal destruction, separated from the presence of the Lord and the glory of His might,

10 on the day He comes to be glorified in His saints and regarded with wonder by all who have believed, including you who have believed our testimony.

11 To this end, we always pray for you, that our God will count you worthy of His calling, and that He will powerfully fulfill your every good desire and work of faith,

12 so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and of the Lord Jesus Christ.

KJV

1 ¶ Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

2 Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;

4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:

5 ¶ [Which is] a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:

6 Seeing [it is] a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;

7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

11 ¶ Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of [this] calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of [his] goodness, and the work of faith with power:

12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

1545 Luther's English Bible (LED)

Exhortation to persevere in persecution.

1 Paul and Silvanus and Timothy: To the church of Thessalonica in GOD our Father, and to the LORD JEsu Christo.

2 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 We ought always to give thanks unto God for you, brethren, as is right. For your faith is greatly increased, and the love of every one of you toward one another is increased,

4 So that we may boast of you among the churches of God from your patience and faith in all your persecutions and afflictions which you endure, -

5 Which signifieth that God will judge aright, and ye shall be worthy of the kingdom of God, above which ye also suffer,

6 For it is right with God to repay tribulation to those who put tribulation upon you,

7 But unto you that are afflicted, rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with the angels of his power.

8 And with flames of fire to give vengeance upon them that know not God, And on them that are not obedient to the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ;

9 Which shall suffer torment, eternal destruction, from the presence of the LORD, and from his glorious power,

10 When he shall come, that he may appear glorious with his saints, and marvellous with all them that believe. For our testimony unto you of that day ye have believed].

11 And therefore we pray for you always, that our God may make you worthy of the calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of goodness, and the work of faith in power,

12 That the name of our Lord JESUS Christ may be praised in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God, and of the Lord JESUS Christ.
