Majority Standard Bible

1 Therefore, since you have been raised with Christ, strive for the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.

2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

4 When Christ, who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

5 Put to death, therefore, the components of your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry.

6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience.

7 When you lived among them, you also used to walk in these ways.

8 But now you must put aside all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.

9 Do not lie to one another, since you have taken off the old self with its practices,

10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

11 Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, or free, but Christ is all and is in all.

12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with hearts of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

13 Bear with one another and forgive any complaint you may have against someone else. Forgive as Christ forgave you.

14 And over all these virtues put on love, which is the bond of perfect unity.

15 Let the peace of God rule in your hearts, for to this you were called as members of one body. And be thankful.

16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to the Lord.

17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

18 Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.

20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing to the Lord.

21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, so they will not become discouraged.

22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything, not only to please them while they are watching, but with sincerity of heart and fear of God.

23 And whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, as for the Lord and not for men,

24 because you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as your reward. For it is the Lord Christ you are serving.

25 But whoever does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism.

KJV

1 ¶ If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

4 When Christ, [who is] our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

5 ¶ Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

8 ¶ But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

10 And have put on the new [man], which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond [nor] free: but Christ [is] all, and in all.

12 ¶ Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also [do] ye.

14 And above all these things [put on] charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, [do] all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

18 ¶ Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

19 Husbands, love [your] wives, and be not bitter against them.

20 Children, obey [your] parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

21 Fathers, provoke not your children [to anger], lest they be discouraged.

22 Servants, obey in all things [your] masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:

23 And whatsoever ye do, do [it] heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

4 But when Christ your life shall be manifested, then shall ye also be manifested with him in glory.

5 Put to death therefore your members which are upon the earth: Fornication, uncleanness, shameful rutting, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry,

6 For which the wrath of God comes upon the children of unbelief;

7 In which also ye used to walk, when ye lived therein.

8 But now put away from yourselves all wrath, anger, malice, blasphemy, and shameful words out of your mouth.

9 Lie not among yourselves. Put off the old man with his works.

10 And put on the new, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him,

11 For there is not Greek, Jew, circumcision, foreskin, unclean, scythe, bond, free, but all, and in all, Christ.

12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, saints and beloved, tender mercies, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience

13 And bear with one another, forgiving one another, if any man complain of another: as Christ forgave you, so forgive ye.

19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

20 Ye children, be obedient to your parents in all things: for this is acceptable unto the LORD.

21 Ye fathers, provoke not your children to bitterness, lest they be afraid.

22 Ye servants, be obedient in all things unto your fleshly masters, not with service before your eyes, but to please men. but with simplicity of heart and fear of the Lord.

23 Whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as unto the LORD, and not unto men;

24 And know that ye shall receive of the LORD the recompence of the inheritance: for ye serve the LORD Christ.

25 But he that worketh iniquity shall receive that which he hath wronged: and no respect of persons shall be counted for him. Chap. 4, v. 1: Lords, what is right and equal, prove to your servants, and know that you also have a Lord in heaven.
