Ezekiel 47

1 Then the man brought me back to the entrance of the temple, and I saw water flowing from under the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was coming down from under the south side of the temple, south of the altar.

2 Next he brought me out through the north gate and led me around the outside to the outer gate facing east, and there I saw the water trickling out from the south side.

3 As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits and led me through ankle-deep water.

4 Then he measured off a thousand cubits and led me through knee-deep water. Again he measured a thousand cubits and led me through waist-deep water.

5 Once again he measured off a thousand cubits, but now it was a river that I could not cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough for swimming—a river that could not be crossed on foot.

6 “Son of man, do you see this?” he asked. Then he led me back to the bank of the river.

7 When I arrived, I saw a great number of trees along both banks of the river.

8 And he said to me, “This water flows out to the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah. When it empties into the Dead Sea, the water there becomes fresh.

9 Wherever the river flows, there will be swarms of living creatures and a great number of fish, because it flows there and makes the waters fresh; so wherever the river flows, everything will flourish.

10 Fishermen will stand by the shore; from En-gedi to En-eglaim they will spread their nets to catch fish of many kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea.

11 But the swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they will be left for salt.

12 Along both banks of the river, fruit trees of all kinds will grow. Their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will not fail. Each month they will bear fruit, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will be used for food and their leaves for healing.”

13 This is what the Lord GOD says: “These are the boundaries by which you are to divide the land as an inheritance among the twelve tribes of Israel; Joseph shall receive two portions.

14 You are to divide it equally among them. Because I swore with an uplifted hand to give it to your forefathers, this land will fall to you as an inheritance.

15 This shall be the boundary of the land: On the north side it will extend from the Great Sea by way of Hethlon through Lebo-hamath to Zedad,

16 Berothah, and Sibraim (which is on the border between Damascus and Hamath), as far as Hazer-hatticon, which is on the border of Hauran.

17 So the border will run from the Sea to Hazar-enan, along the northern border of Damascus, with the territory of Hamath to the north. This will be the northern boundary.

18 On the east side the border will run between Hauran and Damascus, along the Jordan between Gilead and the land of Israel, to the Eastern Sea and as far as Tamar. This will be the eastern boundary.

19 On the south side it will run from Tamar to the waters of Meribath-kadesh, and along the Brook of Egypt to the Great Sea. This will be the southern boundary.

20 And on the west side, the Great Sea will be the boundary up to a point opposite Lebo-hamath. This will be the western boundary.

21 You are to divide this land among yourselves according to the tribes of Israel.

22 You shall allot it as an inheritance for yourselves and for the foreigners who dwell among you and who have children. You are to treat them as native-born Israelites; along with you, they shall be allotted an inheritance among the tribes of Israel.

23 In whatever tribe a foreigner dwells, you are to assign his inheritance there,” declares the Lord GOD.

1 ¶ Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the forefront of the house [stood toward] the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south [side] of the altar.

2 Then brought he me out of the way of the gate northward, and led me about the way without unto the utter gate by the way that looketh eastward; and, behold, there ran out waters on the right side.

3 And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters [were] to the ankles.

4 Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters [were] to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters [were] to the loins.

5 Afterward he measured a thousand; [and it was] a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over.

6 And he said unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen [this]? Then he brought me, and caused me to return to the brink of the river.

7 Now when I had returned, behold, at the bank of the river [were] very many trees on the one side and on the other.

8 Then said he unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: [which being] brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed.

9 And it shall come to pass, [that] every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh.

10 And it shall come to pass, [that] the fishers shall stand upon it from Engedi even unto Eneglaim; they shall be a [place] to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many.

11 But the miry places thereof and the marishes thereof shall not be healed; they shall be given to salt.

12 And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.

13 ¶ Thus saith the Lord GOD; This [shall be] the border, whereby ye shall inherit the land according to the twelve tribes of Israel: Joseph [shall have two] portions.

14 And ye shall inherit it, one as well as another: [concerning] the which I lifted up mine hand to give it unto your fathers: and this land shall fall unto you for inheritance.

15 And this [shall be] the border of the land toward the north side, from the great sea, the way of Hethlon, as men go to Zedad;

16 Hamath, Berothah, Sibraim, which [is] between the border of Damascus and the border of Hamath; Hazarhatticon, which [is] by the coast of Hauran.

17 And the border from the sea shall be Hazarenan, the border of Damascus, and the north northward, and the border of Hamath. And [this is] the north side.

18 And the east side ye shall measure from Hauran, and from Damascus, and from Gilead, and from the land of Israel [by] Jordan, from the border unto the east sea. And [this is] the east side.

19 And the south side southward, from Tamar [even] to the waters of strife [in] Kadesh, the river to the great sea. And [this is] the south side southward.

20 The west side also [shall be] the great sea from the border, till a man come over against Hamath. This [is] the west side.

21 So shall ye divide this land unto you according to the tribes of Israel.

22 And it shall come to pass, [that] ye shall divide it by lot for an inheritance unto you, and to the strangers that sojourn among you, which shall beget children among you: and they shall be unto you as born in the country among the children of Israel; they shall have inheritance with you among the tribes of Israel.

23 And it shall come to pass, [that] in what tribe the stranger sojourneth, there shall ye give [him] his inheritance, saith the Lord GOD.

1 And he brought me again unto the door of the temple. And, behold, there flowed out water from under the threshold of the temple toward the east: for the door of the temple was also toward the east. And the water ran on the right side of the temple, beside the altar toward the south.

2 And he brought me by heart unto the gate toward the north, from the outer gate toward the east: and, behold, the waters gushed out of the right side.

3 And the man went out toward the east, having the measuring line in his hand; and he measured a thousand cubits, and led me through the water until it came to my ankles.

4 And he measured again a thousand cubits, and brought me through the water, until it came to my knees. And he measured again a thousand cubits, and made me pass through it, until it came to my loins.

5 Then measured he yet a thousand cubits, and it was so deep, that I could not make a foundation: for the water was too high to swim over, and I could not make a foundation.

6 And he said unto me, Son of man, thou hast seen this. And he brought me again to the bank of the brook.

7 And, behold, there stood very many trees on the bank on either side.

8 And he said unto me, This water that floweth out toward the east shall flow through the field of the puddle into the sea, and from sea to sea: and when it is come into the sea, then these waters shall be healed.

9 Yea, every living thing that liveth and travaileth therein, whither these rivers come, shall live, and have very much fish: and every thing shall be well, and live, whither this river cometh.

10 And the fishermen shall stand by it; from Engeddi even to En-Eglaim shall the fishes be stretched out: for there shall be there a great multitude of fishes, as in the great sea.

11 But the pools and the pools beside shall not be made whole, but shall remain salted.

12 And by the same river, on the banks thereof on both sides, shall grow all manner of fruitful trees; and their leaf shall not wither, neither shall their fruit rot: and they shall bring forth new fruit every month; for their waters flow out of the sanctuary. Their fruit shall be for food, and their leaves for medicine.

13 Thus saith the LORD GOD; This is the border, according to which ye shall divide the land among the twelve tribes of Israel: for two parts belong unto the tribe of Joseph.

14 And ye shall divide it equally unto one and to another: for I have lifted up mine hand to give the land unto your fathers, and to you for an inheritance.

15 Now this is the border of the land northward from the great sea, from Hethlon even unto Zedad:

16 Hemath, and Berotha, and Sibraim, which border with Damascus and Hemath; and Hazar- tikhon, which borders with Haveran.

17 This shall be the border from the sea even unto Hazar-enon: and Damascus and Hemath shall be the end thereof northward.

18 And ye shall measure the east border between Haveran and Damascus, and between Gilead and the land of Israel, from Jordan even unto the sea eastward. This shall be the border eastward.

19 And the south border shall be from Tamar unto the waters of Hader in Kadesh, and unto the waters of the great sea. This shall be the south border.

20 And the west border shall be from the great sea even unto Hemath. This is the border of the evening.

21 So shall ye divide the land among the tribes of Israel.

22 And when ye cast lots to divide the land among you, then ye shall keep the strangers that sojourn among you, and that beget children among you, even as the inhabitants among the children of Israel;

23 And they shall have their portion in the land, every one of them of the tribe wherein he dwelleth, saith the LORD GOD.
