Genesis 6

1 Now when men began to multiply on the face of the earth and daughters were born to them,

2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they took as wives whomever they chose.

3 So the LORD said, “My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days shall be 120 years.”

4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and afterward as well—when the sons of God had relations with the daughters of men. And they bore them children who became the mighty men of old, men of renown.

5 Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great upon the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was altogether evil all the time.

6 And the LORD regretted that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.

7 So the LORD said, “I will blot out man, whom I have created, from the face of the earth—every man and beast and crawling creature and bird of the air—for I am grieved that I have made them.”

8 Noah, however, found favor in the eyes of the LORD.

9 This is the account of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation; Noah walked with God.

10 And Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

11 Now the earth was corrupt in the sight of God, and full of violence.

12 And God looked upon the earth and saw that it was corrupt; for all living creatures on the earth had corrupted their ways.

13 Then God said to Noah, “The end of all living creatures has come before Me, because through them the earth is full of violence. Now behold, I will destroy both them and the earth.

14 Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood; make rooms in the ark and coat it with pitch inside and out.

15 And this is how you are to build it: The ark is to be 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high.

16 You are to make a roof for the ark, finish its walls a cubit from the top, place a door in the side of the ark, and build lower, middle, and upper decks.

17 And behold, I will bring floodwaters upon the earth to destroy every creature under the heavens that has the breath of life. Everything on the earth will perish.

18 But I will establish My covenant with you, and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you.

19 And you are to bring two of every living creature into the ark—male and female—to keep them alive with you.

20 Two of every kind of bird and animal and crawling creature will come to you to be kept alive.

21 You are also to take for yourself every kind of food that is eaten and gather it as food for yourselves and for the animals.”

22 So Noah did everything precisely as God had commanded him.

1 ¶ And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,

2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they [were] fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

3 ¶ And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also [is] flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

4 ¶ There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare [children] to them, the same [became] mighty men which [were] of old, men of renown.

5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man [was] great in the earth, and [that] every imagination of the thoughts of his heart [was] only evil continually.

6 ¶ And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

8 ¶ But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

9 These [are] the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man [and] perfect in his generations, [and] Noah walked with God.

10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

11 ¶ The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

13 ¶ And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.

15 And this [is the fashion] which thou shalt make it [of]: The length of the ark [shall be] three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.

16 A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; [with] lower, second, and third [stories] shalt thou make it.

17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein [is] the breath of life, from under heaven; [and] every thing that [is] in the earth shall die.

18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.

19 And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every [sort] shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep [them] alive with thee; they shall be male and female.

20 Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every [sort] shall come unto thee, to keep [them] alive.

21 And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather [it] to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.

22 ¶ Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

2 And the children of God looked on the daughters of men, and saw that they were fair, and took them wives whom they would.

3 Then said the LORD, Men will not be punished by my spirit any more: for they are flesh. And I will give them yet an hundred and twenty years.

4 There were also tyrants in the earth in those days: for when the children of God slept with the daughters of men, and begat them children, they became mighty men in the world, and mighty men of renown.

5 And when the LORD saw that the wickedness of men was great upon the earth, and that all the thoughts and actions of their heart were evil for ever,

6 And it grieved him that he had made man upon the earth, and it grieved him in his heart,

7 And said: And I will destroy them which I have created from off the face of the earth, from man unto cattle, and unto creeping things, and unto the fowls of the air: for it repenteth me that I have made them.

8 But Noah found grace in the sight of the LORD.

9 This is the generation of Noah: Noah was a godly man, and without change, and lived a godly life in his days.

10 And begat three sons, Shem, Ham, Japheth.

11 But the earth was corrupt in the sight of God, and full of iniquity.

12 Then God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt: for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me, because the earth is full of their iniquity: and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

14 Make thee a chest of fir wood, and make chambers therein, and pitch them within and without.

15 And make it so: three hundred cubits shall be the length thereof, fifty cubits the breadth thereof, and thirty cubits the height thereof.

16 thou shalt make a window in the top thereof, a cubit in height. And the door shall be in the midst of the side thereof. And it shall have three bottoms, one at the bottom, the other in the middle, and the third in the height.

17 For, behold, I will bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is a living breath under heaven. And all that is upon the earth shall perish.

18 But with thee will I establish a covenant; and thou shalt go into the coffer with thy sons, and with thy wife, and with thy sons' wives.

19 And thou shalt put in the coffer every beast of all flesh, every pair of them, male and female, that they may live with thee.

20 Of the birds after their kind, and of the cattle after their kind, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind; of them all a pair shall go in unto thee, that they may live.

21 And thou shalt take unto thee all manner of meat that is eaten; and thou shalt gather it unto thee, and it shall be meat for thee and for them.

22 And Noah did all that God commanded him.
