Isaiah 65

1 “I revealed Myself to those who did not ask for Me; I was found by those who did not seek Me. To a nation that did not call My name, I said, ‘Here I am! Here I am!’

2 All day long I have held out My hands to an obstinate people who walk in the wrong path, who follow their own imaginations,

3 to a people who continually provoke Me to My face, sacrificing in the gardens and burning incense on altars of brick,

4 sitting among the graves, spending nights in secret places, eating the meat of pigs and polluted broth from their bowls.

5 They say, ‘Keep to yourself; do not come near me, for I am holier than you!’ Such people are smoke in My nostrils, a fire that burns all day long.

6 Behold, it is written before Me: I will not keep silent, but I will repay; I will pay it back into their laps,

7 both for your iniquities and for those of your fathers,” says the LORD. “Because they burned incense on the mountains and scorned Me on the hills, I will measure into their laps full payment for their former deeds.”

8 This is what the LORD says: “As the new wine is found in a cluster of grapes, and men say, ‘Do not destroy it, for it contains a blessing,’ so I will act on behalf of My servants; I will not destroy them all.

9 And I will bring forth descendants from Jacob, and heirs from Judah; My elect will possess My mountains, and My servants will dwell there.

10 Sharon will become a pasture for flocks, and the Valley of Achor a resting place for herds, for My people who seek Me.

11 But you who forsake the LORD, who forget My holy mountain, who set a table for Fortune and fill bowls of mixed wine for Destiny,

12 I will destine you for the sword, and you will all kneel down to be slaughtered, because I called and you did not answer, I spoke and you did not listen; you did evil in My sight and chose that in which I did not delight.”

13 Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: “My servants will eat, but you will go hungry; My servants will drink, but you will go thirsty; My servants will rejoice, but you will be put to shame.

14 My servants will shout for joy with a glad heart, but you will cry out with a heavy heart and wail with a broken spirit.

15 You will leave behind your name as a curse for My chosen ones, and the Lord GOD will slay you; but to His servants He will give another name.

16 Whoever invokes a blessing in the land will do so by the God of truth, and whoever takes an oath in the land will swear by the God of truth. For the former troubles will be forgotten and hidden from My sight.

17 For behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.

18 But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create; for I will create Jerusalem to be a joy and its people to be a delight.

19 I will rejoice in Jerusalem and take delight in My people. The sounds of weeping and crying will no longer be heard in her.

20 No longer will a nursing infant live but a few days, or an old man fail to live out his years. For the youth will die at a hundred years, and he who fails to reach a hundred will be considered accursed.

21 They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.

22 No longer will they build houses for others to inhabit, nor plant for others to eat. For as is the lifetime of a tree, so will be the days of My people, and My chosen ones will fully enjoy the work of their hands.

23 They will not labor in vain or bear children doomed to disaster; for they will be a people blessed by the LORD—they and their descendants with them.

24 Even before they call, I will answer, and while they are still speaking, I will hear.

25 The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but the food of the serpent will be dust. They will neither harm nor destroy on all My holy mountain,” says the LORD.

1 ¶ I am sought of [them that] asked not [for me]; I am found of [them that] sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation [that] was not called by my name.

2 I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way [that was] not good, after their own thoughts;

3 A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick;

4 Which remain among the graves, and lodge in the monuments, which eat swine's flesh, and broth of abominable [things is in] their vessels;

5 Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These [are] a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.

6 Behold, [it is] written before me: I will not keep silence, but will recompense, even recompense into their bosom,

7 Your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, saith the LORD, which have burned incense upon the mountains, and blasphemed me upon the hills: therefore will I measure their former work into their bosom.

8 ¶ Thus saith the LORD, As the new wine is found in the cluster, and [one] saith, Destroy it not; for a blessing [is] in it: so will I do for my servants' sakes, that I may not destroy them all.

9 And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains: and mine elect shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there.

10 And Sharon shall be a fold of flocks, and the valley of Achor a place for the herds to lie down in, for my people that have sought me.

11 ¶ But ye [are] they that forsake the LORD, that forget my holy mountain, that prepare a table for that troop, and that furnish the drink offering unto that number.

12 Therefore will I number you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter: because when I called, ye did not answer; when I spake, ye did not hear; but did evil before mine eyes, and did choose [that] wherein I delighted not.

13 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, my servants shall eat, but ye shall be hungry: behold, my servants shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty: behold, my servants shall rejoice, but ye shall be ashamed:

14 Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but ye shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall howl for vexation of spirit.

15 And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen: for the Lord GOD shall slay thee, and call his servants by another name:

16 That he who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from mine eyes.

17 ¶ For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

18 But be ye glad and rejoice for ever [in that] which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.

19 And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.

20 There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner [being] an hundred years old shall be accursed.

21 And they shall build houses, and inhabit [them]; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.

22 They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree [are] the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.

23 They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they [are] the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them.

24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust [shall be] the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.

1 I am sought of them that asked not for me; I am found of them that sought me not: and to the Gentiles that called not upon my name, I say, Here I am, here I am.

2 For I stretch out my hands all the day long unto a disobedient people, which walk after their own thoughts in a way that is not good.

3 A people that indigneth me is ever before my face, sacrificing in the gardens, and burning incense upon the bricks,

4 dwell among the tombs, and keep themselves in dens, and eat swine's flesh, and have abominable soups in their pots

5 And say: Tarry at home, and stir me not: for I shall sanctify thee. Such shall become a smoke in mine anger, a fire that burneth all the day.

6 Behold, it is written before me: I will not keep silence, but will pay; yea, I will pay them in their bosoms,

7 Both their iniquity, and their fathers' iniquity, together, saith the LORD, which have burned incense in the mountains, and have defiled me in the hills; and I will measure unto them their former works in their bosoms.

8 Thus saith the LORD; As when one findeth must in a bunch, and saith, Destroy it not; for there is a blessing in it: so will I do for my servants' sakes, that I destroy it not all,

9 But I will cause seed to grow out of Jacob, and out of Judah to possess my mountain: for mine elect shall possess it, and my servants shall dwell there.

10 And Saron shall be a house for the flock, and the valley of Achor shall be a storehouse for my people that seek me.

11 But ye that forsake the LORD, and forget my holy mountain, and prepare a table for Gad, and offer a drink offering to Meni,

12 Now therefore I will number you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down yourselves to the battle: because I called, and ye answered not; because I spake, and ye hearkened not; but did that which was evil in my sight, and mentioned that which was not in my sight.

13 Therefore thus saith the LORD GOD; Behold, my servants shall eat, and ye shall hunger; behold, my servants shall drink, and ye shall thirst; behold, my servants shall rejoice, and ye shall be ashamed;

14 Behold, my servants shall shout for joy, but ye shall cry for sorrow, and howl for lamentation.

15 And ye shall leave your name for an oath unto my chosen ones: and the LORD GOD shall kill you, and call his servants by another name,

16 That whosoever shall bless himself on earth shall bless himself in the right God, and whosoever shall swear on earth shall swear by the right God: for the former fears are forgotten, and are hid from mine eyes.

17 For, behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall be no more to be remembered, nor to be cherished,

18 But they shall rejoice for ever, and be glad in that which I create. For, behold, I will make Jerusalem to rejoice, and her people to be glad.

19 And I will be glad in Jerusalem, and rejoice in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be heard no more within, neither the voice of lamentation.

20 There shall be no more children that do not attain their days, nor old men that do not fulfil their years: but the children of an hundred years shall die, and the sinners of an hundred years shall be accursed.

21 They shall build houses, and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof.

22 They shall not build, that another may inhabit; neither shall they plant, that another may eat. For the days of my people shall be as the days of a tree, and the work of their hands shall wax old in mine elect.

23 They shall not labor in vain, nor bear untimely birth: for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their seed with them.

24 And it shall come to pass, before they call, that I will answer; and while they yet speak, that I will hear.

25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together; the lion shall eat straw like the ox, and the serpent shall eat earth. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.
