Matthew 28

1 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb.

2 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, rolled away the stone from the entrance, and sat on it.

3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.

4 The guards trembled in fear of him and became like dead men.

5 But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.

6 He is not here; He has risen, just as He said! Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

7 Then go quickly and tell His disciples, ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see Him.’ See, I have told you.”

8 So they hurried out from the tomb in fear and great joy, and ran to tell His disciples.

9 And as they were going to tell His disciples, suddenly Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” They came to Him, grasped His feet, and worshiped Him.

10 “Do not be afraid,” said Jesus. “Go and tell My brothers to go to Galilee. There they will see Me.”

11 While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests all that had happened.

12 And after the chief priests had met with the elders and formed a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money

13 and instructed them: “You are to say, ‘His disciples came by night and stole Him away while we were asleep.’

14 If this report reaches the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.”

15 So the guards took the money and did as they were instructed. And this account has been circulated among the Jews to this very day.

16 Meanwhile, the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain Jesus had designated.

17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him, but some doubted.

18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

20 and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.”

3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:

4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead [men].

5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.

9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, ‹All hail.› And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.

10 Then said Jesus unto them, ‹Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.›

11 ¶ Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.

12 And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,

13 Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him [away] while we slept.

14 And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.

15 So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.

16 ¶ Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.

17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, ‹All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.›

19 ‹Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:›

20 ‹Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway,› [even] ‹unto the end of the world.› Amen.

3 And his form was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow.

4 And the keepers were terrified with fear, and became as though they were dead.

5 But the angel answered and said unto the consecrators: Fear not: I know that ye seek Jesus crucified.

6 He is not here: he is risen, as he said. Come and see the place where the Lord has lain.

7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead. And, behold, he shall go before you into Galilee; and there shall ye see him. Behold, I have told you.

8 And they went out quickly unto the sepulchre with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. And as they went, they told his disciples,

9 And, behold, JEsus met them, and said, Hail! And they came unto him, and took hold of his feet, and fell down before him.

10 Then said JEsus unto them: Fear not. Go and tell my brethren, that they may go into Galilee; and there they shall see me.

11 And as they went, behold, some of the keepers came into the city, and told the chief priests all things that were done.

12 And they came together with the elders, and held a council, and gave money enough to the soldiers.

13 And said, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.

14 And if it come to pass with the governor, we will quiet him, and make you safe.

15 And they took the money, and did as they were taught. This hath been a common saying among the Jews unto this day.
