Numbers 2

1 Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron:

2 “The Israelites are to camp around the Tent of Meeting at a distance from it, each man under his standard, with the banners of his family.

3 On the east side, toward the sunrise, the divisions of Judah are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Judahites is Nahshon son of Amminadab,

4 and his division numbers 74,600.

5 The tribe of Issachar will camp next to it. The leader of the Issacharites is Nethanel son of Zuar,

6 and his division numbers 54,400.

7 Next will be the tribe of Zebulun. The leader of the Zebulunites is Eliab son of Helon,

8 and his division numbers 57,400.

9 The total number of men in the divisions of the camp of Judah is 186,400; they shall set out first.

10 On the south side, the divisions of Reuben are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Reubenites is Elizur son of Shedeur,

11 and his division numbers 46,500.

12 The tribe of Simeon will camp next to it. The leader of the Simeonites is Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai,

13 and his division numbers 59,300.

14 Next will be the tribe of Gad. The leader of the Gadites is Eliasaph son of Deuel,

15 and his division numbers 45,650.

16 The total number of men in the divisions of the camp of Reuben is 151,450; they shall set out second.

17 In the middle of the camps, the Tent of Meeting is to travel with the camp of the Levites. They are to set out in the order they encamped, each in his own place under his standard.

18 On the west side, the divisions of Ephraim are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Ephraimites is Elishama son of Ammihud,

19 and his division numbers 40,500.

20 The tribe of Manasseh will be next to it. The leader of the Manassites is Gamaliel son of Pedahzur,

21 and his division numbers 32,200.

22 Next will be the tribe of Benjamin. The leader of the Benjamites is Abidan son of Gideoni,

23 and his division numbers 35,400.

24 The total number of men in the divisions of the camp of Ephraim is 108,100; they shall set out third.

25 On the north side, the divisions of Dan are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Danites is Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai,

26 and his division numbers 62,700.

27 The tribe of Asher will camp next to it. The leader of the Asherites is Pagiel son of Ocran,

28 and his division numbers 41,500.

29 Next will be the tribe of Naphtali. The leader of the Naphtalites is Ahira son of Enan,

30 and his division numbers 53,400.

31 The total number of men in the camp of Dan is 157,600; they shall set out last, under their standards.”

32 These are the Israelites, numbered according to their families. The total of those counted in the camps, by their divisions, was 603,550.

33 But the Levites were not counted among the other Israelites, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

34 So the Israelites did everything the LORD commanded Moses; they camped under their standards in this way and set out in the same way, each man with his clan and his family.

1 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

2 Every man of the children of Israel shall pitch by his own standard, with the ensign of their father's house: far off about the tabernacle of the congregation shall they pitch.

3 ¶ And on the east side toward the rising of the sun shall they of the standard of the camp of Judah pitch throughout their armies: and Nahshon the son of Amminadab [shall be] captain of the children of Judah.

4 And his host, and those that were numbered of them, [were] threescore and fourteen thousand and six hundred.

5 And those that do pitch next unto him [shall be] the tribe of Issachar: and Nethaneel the son of Zuar [shall be] captain of the children of Issachar.

6 And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, [were] fifty and four thousand and four hundred.

7 [Then] the tribe of Zebulun: and Eliab the son of Helon [shall be] captain of the children of Zebulun.

8 And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, [were] fifty and seven thousand and four hundred.

9 All that were numbered in the camp of Judah [were] an hundred thousand and fourscore thousand and six thousand and four hundred, throughout their armies. These shall first set forth.

10 On the south side [shall be] the standard of the camp of Reuben according to their armies: and the captain of the children of Reuben [shall be] Elizur the son of Shedeur.

11 And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, [were] forty and six thousand and five hundred.

12 And those which pitch by him [shall be] the tribe of Simeon: and the captain of the children of Simeon [shall be] Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.

13 And his host, and those that were numbered of them, [were] fifty and nine thousand and three hundred.

14 Then the tribe of Gad: and the captain of the sons of Gad [shall be] Eliasaph the son of Reuel.

15 And his host, and those that were numbered of them, [were] forty and five thousand and six hundred and fifty.

16 All that were numbered in the camp of Reuben [were] an hundred thousand and fifty and one thousand and four hundred and fifty, throughout their armies. And they shall set forth in the second rank.

17 Then the tabernacle of the congregation shall set forward with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camp: as they encamp, so shall they set forward, every man in his place by their standards.

18 On the west side [shall be] the standard of the camp of Ephraim according to their armies: and the captain of the sons of Ephraim [shall be] Elishama the son of Ammihud.

19 And his host, and those that were numbered of them, [were] forty thousand and five hundred.

20 And by him [shall be] the tribe of Manasseh: and the captain of the children of Manasseh [shall be] Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

21 And his host, and those that were numbered of them, [were] thirty and two thousand and two hundred.

22 Then the tribe of Benjamin: and the captain of the sons of Benjamin [shall be] Abidan the son of Gideoni.

23 And his host, and those that were numbered of them, [were] thirty and five thousand and four hundred.

24 All that were numbered of the camp of Ephraim [were] an hundred thousand and eight thousand and an hundred, throughout their armies. And they shall go forward in the third rank.

25 The standard of the camp of Dan [shall be] on the north side by their armies: and the captain of the children of Dan [shall be] Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.

26 And his host, and those that were numbered of them, [were] threescore and two thousand and seven hundred.

27 And those that encamp by him [shall be] the tribe of Asher: and the captain of the children of Asher [shall be] Pagiel the son of Ocran.

28 And his host, and those that were numbered of them, [were] forty and one thousand and five hundred.

29 Then the tribe of Naphtali: and the captain of the children of Naphtali [shall be] Ahira the son of Enan.

30 And his host, and those that were numbered of them, [were] fifty and three thousand and four hundred.

31 All they that were numbered in the camp of Dan [were] an hundred thousand and fifty and seven thousand and six hundred. They shall go hindmost with their standards.

32 These [are] those which were numbered of the children of Israel by the house of their fathers: all those that were numbered of the camps throughout their hosts [were] six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.

33 But the Levites were not numbered among the children of Israel; as the LORD commanded Moses.

34 And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses: so they pitched by their standards, and so they set forward, every one after their families, according to the house of their fathers.

2 And the children of Israel shall encamp before the tabernacle of the congregation round about, every man under his banner, and under his mark, according to the house of their fathers.

3 And it shall come to pass in the morning, that Judah shall encamp with her armour and her host; and Naheshon the son of Amminadab shall be their captain;

4 And the host thereof in the sum of seventy and four thousand and six hundred.

5 And the tribe of Issachar shall encamp beside him; and Nethaneel the son of Zuar shall be their captain;

6 And his host of the sum of fifty and four thousand and four hundred.

7 And the tribe of Zebulun; Eliab the son of Helon was their captain;

8 His host of the sum of fifty and seven thousand and four hundred.

9 And all that are numbered of the camp of Judah shall be an hundred and fourscore and six thousand, and four hundred that are numbered of their host: and they shall go forth in the front.

10 And about noon shall lie the tent and panoply of Reuben with their host; their captain Elizur the son of Setreur;

11 And his host, by the sum of them, forty and six thousand and five hundred.

12 And next unto him shall encamp the tribe of Simeon: Selumiel the son of Zuri-saddai shall be their captain;

13 And the host thereof in the sum of fifty and nine thousand three hundred.

14 And the tribe of Gad; Eliasaph the son of Reguel was their captain;

15 And the host thereof in the sum of forty and five thousand six hundred and fifty.

16 And all that are in the camp of Reuben shall be an hundred and fifty and one thousand and four hundred and fifty, which are of their host: and the rest shall be in the going forth.

17 And afterward the tabernacle of the congregation shall go with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camps: and as they encamp, so shall they go, every man in his place, under his banner.

18 And it shall come to pass at even, that the tent and the tabernacle of Ephraim shall lie with their host: and Elishama the son of Ammihud shall be their captain;

19 And his host by the sum of forty thousand and five hundred.

20 And next unto him shall encamp the tribe of Manasseh; Gamliel the son of Pedezur shall be their captain;

21 His host of the sum of thirty and two thousand and two hundred.

22 And the tribe of Benjamin; Abidan the son of Gideoni, their captain;

23 And his host was thirty and five thousand and four hundred.

24 And all that are numbered of the camp of Ephraim shall be an hundred and eight thousand and one hundred, which are of his host: and they shall be the third in going forth.

25 And it shall come to pass at midnight, that the tent and the tabernacle of Dan shall lie with their host; and Ahiezer the son of Ammi-saddai shall be their captain;

26 His host, the sum of them, threescore and two thousand and seven hundred.

27 And next unto him shall encamp the tribe of Asher; and their captain shall be Pagel the son of Ochran;

28 His army, by the sum of forty and one thousand and five hundred.

29 And the tribe of Naphtali; Ahira the son of Enan, their captain;

30 And his host of the sum of fifty and three thousand and four hundred.

31 And all that are numbered of the camp of Dan shall be an hundred fifty and seven thousand and six hundred: and they shall be the last to come forth with their garments.

32 This is the sum of the children of Israel, according to their fathers' houses, and according to their camps, with their armies, six hundred thousand and three thousand five hundred and fifty.

33 But the Levites were not numbered in the sum of the children of Israel, as the LORD commanded Moses.

34 And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, and encamped under their coats, and went forth every man after his kindred after the house of their fathers.
