Psalms 116

1 I love the LORD, for He has heard my voice—my appeal for mercy.

2 Because He has inclined His ear to me, I will call on Him as long as I live.

3 The ropes of death entangled me; the anguish of Sheol overcame me; I was confronted by trouble and sorrow.

4 Then I called on the name of the LORD: “O LORD, deliver my soul!”

5 The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.

6 The LORD preserves the simplehearted; I was helpless, and He saved me.

7 Return to your rest, O my soul, for the LORD has been good to you.

8 For You have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling.

9 I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.

10 I believed, therefore I said, “I am greatly afflicted.”

11 In my alarm I said, “All men are liars!”

12 How can I repay the LORD for all His goodness to me?

13 I will lift the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD.

14 I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all His people.

15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints.

16 Truly, O LORD, I am Your servant; I am Your servant, the son of Your maidservant; You have broken my bonds.

17 I will offer to You a sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD.

18 I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all His people,

19 in the courts of the LORD’s house, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Hallelujah!

2 Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon [him] as long as I live.

3 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.

4 Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.

5 Gracious [is] the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God [is] merciful.

6 The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me.

7 Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.

8 For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, [and] my feet from falling.

9 I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.

10 ¶ I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted:

11 I said in my haste, All men [are] liars.

12 What shall I render unto the LORD [for] all his benefits toward me?

13 I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.

14 I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.

15 Precious in the sight of the LORD [is] the death of his saints.

16 O LORD, truly I [am] thy servant; I [am] thy servant, [and] the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.

17 I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.

18 I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people,

19 In the courts of the LORD'S house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD.

1 This is dear unto me, that the LORD heareth my voice and my supplications,

2 That he may incline his ear unto me: therefore will I call upon him all the days of my life.

3 The cords of death had compassed me about, and the fear of hell had come upon me: I came in distress and in trouble.

4 But I called upon the name of the LORD, O LORD, save my soul.

5 The LORD is gracious and just, and our God is merciful.

6 The LORD keepeth the simple. When I fall short, he helps me.

7 Now therefore be content again, my soul: for the LORD doeth good unto thee.

8 For thou hast plucked my soul out of death, mine eye from tears, my foot from slipping.

9 I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.

10 I think that's why I'm talking. I'm getting very harried, though.

11 I said in my anguish, All men are liars.

12 How shall I recompense the LORD for all his benefits which he doeth unto me?

13 I will take the cup of salvation, and will preach the name of the LORD.

14 I will pay my vows unto the LORD before all his people.

15 The death of his saints is accounted worthy in the sight of the LORD.

16 O LORD, I am thy servant; I am thy servant, the son of thine handmaid. Thou hast broken my bonds.

17 Unto thee will I offer thanksgiving, and preach the name of the LORD.

18 I will pay my vows unto the LORD before all his people,

19 In the courts of the house of the LORD, in thee, O Jerusalem. Hallelujah!
