Psalms 132

1 A song of ascents. O LORD, remember on behalf of David all the hardships he endured,

2 how he swore an oath to the LORD, and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:

3 “I will not enter my house or get into my bed,

4 I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids,

5 until I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

6 We heard that the ark was in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of Jaar.

7 Let us go to His dwelling place; let us worship at His footstool.

8 Arise, O LORD, to Your resting place, You and the ark of Your strength.

9 May Your priests be clothed with righteousness, and Your saints shout for joy.

10 For the sake of Your servant David, do not reject Your anointed one.

11 The LORD swore an oath to David, a promise He will not revoke: “One of your descendants I will place on your throne.

12 If your sons keep My covenant and the testimony I will teach them, then their sons will also sit on your throne forever and ever.”

13 For the LORD has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His home:

14 “This is My resting place forever and ever; here I will dwell, for I have desired this home.

15 I will bless her with abundant provisions; I will satisfy her poor with bread.

16 I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints will sing out in joy.

17 There I will make a horn grow for David; I have prepared a lamp for My anointed one.

18 I will clothe his enemies with shame, but the crown upon him will gleam.”

1 ¶ A Song of degrees. LORD, remember David, [and] all his afflictions:

2 How he sware unto the LORD, [and] vowed unto the mighty [God] of Jacob;

3 Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;

4 I will not give sleep to mine eyes, [or] slumber to mine eyelids,

5 Until I find out a place for the LORD, an habitation for the mighty [God] of Jacob.

6 Lo, we heard of it at Ephratah: we found it in the fields of the wood.

7 We will go into his tabernacles: we will worship at his footstool.

8 Arise, O LORD, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength.

9 Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy.

10 For thy servant David's sake turn not away the face of thine anointed.

11 ¶ The LORD hath sworn [in] truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.

12 If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.

13 For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired [it] for his habitation.

14 This [is] my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.

15 I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.

16 I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.

17 There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.

18 His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.

1 A song in the higher chorus. Remember, O Lord, David and all his sufferings,

2 Who sware unto the LORD, and vowed unto the mighty man of Jacob:

3 I will not go into the tabernacle of my house, neither will I lie down in the bed of my bed,

4 I will not let my eyes sleep, nor my eyelids slumber,

5 Till I find a place for the LORD; for a dwelling place unto the mighty one of Jacob.

6 Behold, we hear of her in Ephrathah; we have found her in the field of the forest.

7 We will enter into his tabernacle, and worship before his footstool.

8 Arise, O Lord, unto thy rest, thou and the ark of thy power.

9 Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness, and let thy saints rejoice.

10 Take not away the rule of thine anointed for thy servant David's sake.

11 The LORD sware unto David a true oath: he will not turn from it: I will set the fruit of thy womb upon thy throne.

12 If thy children keep my covenant, and my testimony which I will teach them, their children also shall sit in thy throne for ever.

13 For the LORD hath chosen Zion, and hath pleased to dwell there.

14 This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for it is well with me.

15 I will bless their food, and give bread to their poor.

16 Their priests will I clothe with salvation, and their saints shall rejoice.

17 There shall the horn of David arise: I have prepared a lamp for mine anointed.

18 His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon him shall his crown flourish.
