Psalms 143

1 A Psalm of David. O LORD, hear my prayer. In Your faithfulness, give ear to my plea; in Your righteousness, answer me.

2 Do not bring Your servant into judgment, for no one alive is righteous before You.

3 For the enemy has pursued my soul, crushing my life to the ground, making me dwell in darkness like those long since dead.

4 My spirit grows faint within me; my heart is dismayed inside me.

5 I remember the days of old; I meditate on all Your works; I consider the work of Your hands.

6 I stretch out my hands to You; my soul thirsts for You like a parched land. Selah

7 Answer me quickly, O LORD; my spirit fails. Do not hide Your face from me, or I will be like those who descend to the Pit.

8 Let me hear Your loving devotion in the morning, for I have put my trust in You. Teach me the way I should walk, for to You I lift up my soul.

9 Deliver me from my enemies, O LORD; I flee to You for refuge.

10 Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God. May Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

11 For the sake of Your name, O LORD, revive me. In Your righteousness, bring my soul out of trouble.

12 And in Your loving devotion, cut off my enemies. Destroy all who afflict me, for I am Your servant.

1 ¶ A Psalm of David. Hear my prayer, O LORD, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, [and] in thy righteousness.

2 And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.

3 For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; he hath smitten my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead.

4 Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate.

5 I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands.

6 I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul [thirsteth] after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah.

7 ¶ Hear me speedily, O LORD: my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit.

8 Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.

9 Deliver me, O LORD, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me.

10 Teach me to do thy will; for thou [art] my God: thy spirit [is] good; lead me into the land of uprightness.

11 Quicken me, O LORD, for thy name's sake: for thy righteousness' sake bring my soul out of trouble.

12 And of thy mercy cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that afflict my soul: for I [am] thy servant.

2 And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for there is none living that is righteous before thee.

3 For the enemy pursueth my soul, and destroyeth my life to the ground; he layeth me in darkness, as the dead in the world.

4 And my spirit is troubled within me; my heart is consumed in my flesh.

5 I remember the former times; I speak of all thy doings, and tell of the works of thy hands.

6 I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul thirsteth for thee as a dry land. Sela.

7 Hear me, O LORD, quickly; my spirit is departed: hide not thy face from me, that I be not like them which go down to the pit.

8 Let me early hear thy mercy: for I hope in thee. Make known unto me the way wherein I shall go; For I long for thee.

9 Deliver me, O my God, from mine enemies: in thee have I refuge.

10 Teach me to do according to thy good pleasure: for thou art my God: let thy good spirit lead me in a straight path.

11 O LORD, quicken me for thy name's sake, bring my soul out of trouble for thy righteousness' sake;

12 And destroy mine enemies for thy lovingkindness' sake, and destroy all them that afflict my soul: for I am thy servant.
