Psalms 54

1 For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments. A Maskil of David. When the Ziphites went to Saul and said, “Is David not hiding among us?” Save me, O God, by Your name, and vindicate me by Your might!

2 Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth.

3 For strangers rise up against me, and ruthless men seek my life—men with no regard for God. Selah

4 Surely God is my helper; the Lord is the sustainer of my soul.

5 He will reward my enemies with evil. In Your faithfulness, destroy them.

6 Freely I will sacrifice to You; I will praise Your name, O LORD, for it is good.

7 For He has delivered me from every trouble, and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes.

1 ¶ To the chief Musician on Neginoth, Maschil, [A Psalm] of David, when the Ziphims came and said to Saul, Doth not David hide himself with us? Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength.

2 Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth.

3 For strangers are risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul: they have not set God before them. Selah.

4 ¶ Behold, God [is] mine helper: the Lord [is] with them that uphold my soul.

5 He shall reward evil unto mine enemies: cut them off in thy truth.

6 I will freely sacrifice unto thee: I will praise thy name, O LORD; for [it is] good.

7 For he hath delivered me out of all trouble: and mine eye hath seen [his desire] upon mine enemies.

2 And they of Ziph came and said unto Saul, David hath hid himself with us.

3 Help me, O God, by your name, and establish justice for me by your power.

4 O God, hear my prayer; listen to the words of my mouth.

5 For the proud set themselves against me, and the proud after my soul, and have not God before their eyes. Sela.

6 Behold, God helpeth me: the LORD upholdeth my soul.

7 He shall pay the wickedness of mine enemies. Destroy them by your faithfulness!

8 Then will I offer unto thee a sacrifice of joy, and give thanks unto thy name, O LORD, because it is so comforting.

9 For thou hast delivered me out of all mine affliction, that mine eye may delight in mine enemies.
