Psalms 72

1 Of Solomon. Endow the king with Your justice, O God, and the son of the king with Your righteousness.

2 May he judge Your people with righteousness and Your afflicted with justice.

3 May the mountains bring peace to the people, and the hills bring righteousness.

4 May he vindicate the afflicted among the people; may he save the children of the needy and crush the oppressor.

5 May they fear him as long as the sun shines, as long as the moon remains, through all generations.

6 May he be like rain that falls on freshly cut grass, like spring showers that water the earth.

7 May the righteous flourish in his days and prosperity abound until the moon is no more.

8 May he rule from sea to sea, and from the Euphrates to the ends of the earth.

9 May the nomads bow before him, and his enemies lick the dust.

10 May the kings of Tarshish and distant shores bring tribute; may the kings of Sheba and Seba offer gifts.

11 May all kings bow down to him and all nations serve him.

12 For he will deliver the needy who cry out and the afflicted who have no helper.

13 He will take pity on the poor and needy and save the lives of the oppressed.

14 He will redeem them from oppression and violence, for their blood is precious in his sight.

15 Long may he live! May gold from Sheba be given him. May people ever pray for him; may they bless him all day long.

16 May there be an abundance of grain in the land; may it sway atop the hills. May its fruit trees flourish like the forests of Lebanon, the people of its cities like the grass of the field.

17 May his name endure forever; may his name continue as long as the sun shines. In him may all nations be blessed; may they call him blessed.

18 Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds.

19 And blessed be His glorious name forever; may all the earth be filled with His glory. Amen and amen.

20 Thus conclude the prayers of David son of Jesse.

1 ¶ [A Psalm] for Solomon. Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king's son.

2 ¶ He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment.

3 The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness.

4 He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.

5 They shall fear thee as long as the sun and moon endure, throughout all generations.

6 He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers [that] water the earth.

7 In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth.

8 He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.

9 They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him; and his enemies shall lick the dust.

10 The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.

11 Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him.

12 For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and [him] that hath no helper.

13 He shall spare the poor and needy, and shall save the souls of the needy.

14 He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall their blood be in his sight.

15 And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: prayer also shall be made for him continually; [and] daily shall he be praised.

16 There shall be an handful of corn in the earth upon the top of the mountains; the fruit thereof shall shake like Lebanon: and [they] of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth.

17 His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and [men] shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed.

18 ¶ Blessed [be] the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things.

19 And blessed [be] his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled [with] his glory; Amen, and Amen.

20 The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.

1 To the God of Solomon, give thy judgment unto the king, and thy righteousness unto the king's son,

2 That he may bring thy people to righteousness, and save thy afflicted ones.

3 Let the mountains bring peace among the people, and the hills righteousness.

4 He shall uphold the wretched people in judgment, and shall help the poor, and shall smite the blasphemers.

5 They shall fear thee as long as the sun and moon endure, from child to child.

6 He shall descend as the rain upon the hide, as the drops that wet the land.

7 In his days shall the righteous flourish, and great peace, till the moon be no more.

8 He shall reign from sea to sea, and from the waters even unto the end of the world.

9 Before him shall they bow that are in the wilderness; and his enemies shall lick the dust.

10 The kings of the sea and of the isles shall bring gifts: the kings of Arabia and Seba shall bring gifts.

11 All kings shall worship him, all nations shall serve him.

12 For he shall deliver the poor that crieth, and the needy that hath no helper.

13 He will be gracious to the lowly and to the poor, and will help the souls of the poor.

14 He shall redeem her soul from deceit and from iniquity, and her blood shall be esteemed in his sight.

15 He shall live, and they shall give him of the gold of Arabia. And they shall pray before him continually; daily shall they praise him.

16 In the earth, upon the top of the mountains, shall the corn stand thick; the fruit thereof shall quake as Lebanon, and shall green in the cities as grass upon the earth.

17 His name shall be for ever: as long as the sun endureth, his name shall reach unto his seed, and they that are blessed by him shall be blessed: all the heathen shall praise him.

18 Blessed be the LORD God, the LORD God of Israel, which alone doeth wonders;

19 And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let all the earth be filled with his glory. Amen, amen.
