Psalms 8

1 For the choirmaster. According to Gittith. A Psalm of David. O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens.

2 From the mouths of children and infants You have ordained praise on account of Your adversaries, to silence the enemy and avenger.

3 When I behold Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place—

4 what is man that You are mindful of him, or the son of man that You care for him?

5 You made him a little lower than the angels; You crowned him with glory and honor.

6 You made him ruler of the works of Your hands; You have placed everything under his feet:

7 all sheep and oxen, and even the beasts of the field,

8 the birds of the air and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.

9 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth!

1 ¶ To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of David. O LORD our Lord, how excellent [is] thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

3 ¶ When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all [things] under his feet:

7 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, [and whatsoever] passeth through the paths of the seas.

9 O LORD our Lord, how excellent [is] thy name in all the earth!

2 O Lord our sovereign, how glorious is thy name in all the earth, when they give thee thanks in heaven!

3 Thou hast put power into the mouth of the young children and sucklings for thine enemies' sake, to destroy the enemy and the revenger.

4 For I will see the heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars which thou preparest.

5 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the child of man, that thou art mindful of him?

6 you will let him be forsaken by God for a little while. But with honors and adornment you will crown him.

7 Thou wilt make him lord over the work of thy hands: thou hast put all things under his feet:

8 Sheep and bullocks at all, and wild beasts also,

9 The fowls of the air, and the fishes of the sea, and the things that go in the sea.

10 O LORD our sovereign, how glorious is thy name in all lands!
