Psalms 82

1 A Psalm of Asaph. God presides in the divine assembly; He renders judgment among the gods:

2 “How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Selah

3 Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; uphold the rights of the afflicted and oppressed.

4 Rescue the weak and needy; save them from the hand of the wicked.

5 They do not know or understand; they wander in the darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.

6 I have said, ‘You are gods; you are all sons of the Most High.’

7 But like mortals you will die, and like rulers you will fall.”

8 Arise, O God, judge the earth, for all the nations are Your inheritance.

1 ¶ A Psalm of Asaph. God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.

2 How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.

3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.

4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid [them] out of the hand of the wicked.

5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

6 ¶ I have said, Ye [are] gods; and all of you [are] children of the most High.

7 But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.

8 Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.

2 How long will ye judge iniquity, and prefer the person of the wicked? Sela.

3 Render justice to the poor and to the fatherless, and help the needy and the poor to righteousness.

4 the lowly and the poor, and deliver him out of the hand of the wicked.

5 But they suffer them not, nor hearken unto them; they go always in darkness: therefore must all the foundations of the land fall.

6 I have said, Ye are gods, and the children of the Most High;

7 But ye shall die as men, and perish as a tyrant.

8 God, arise and judge the land: for thou art an inheritor over all the nations.
