Episode Description

Jeremiah 2:13 is one of the sharpest diagnoses of the human heart in all of Scripture. God says His people committed two evils: they forsook Him, the fountain of living waters, and they built broken cisterns that cannot hold water.

In this episode, we explore what it means to seek God as the only true source of life—and how every age, including ours, tries to replace Him with empty substitutes. From political idolatry to self-made spirituality, from material security to personal righteousness, we trace how modern people still carve out broken cisterns and remain spiritually thirsty.

Drawing on Scripture, Luther, and the Lutheran Confessions, this sermon calls us to repent of false trust and to drink deeply from Christ, the true and living fountain. The gospel is not that we claw our way back to God—but that the Fountain Himself comes to us with grace, forgiveness, and life.

If you’re thirsty, exhausted, disappointed in the world, or tired of empty wells—this episode is for you. Come and drink.
