Wake Up and See Your King! — Advent 1 (One-Year Lectionary)
Episode Description
The Church year doesn’t begin with sentimental holiday cheer or soft Christmas nostalgia. It begins with a trumpet blast: “Wake up! Your King is coming!” In this Advent 1 sermon on Jeremiah 23:5–8, Romans 13:11–14, and Matthew 21:1–9, we confront the comfort-driven sleep of modern Christianity and the false hopes we place in politics, culture, and personal identity. We meet a King unlike the world’s kings—One who rides in on a donkey, hides Himself in humble means, and comes not to inspire us, but to save us from our sin.
Learn why Advent is not a countdown to Christmas but a call to repentance, a comfort for the weary, and the promise that our humble King will return in glory.
Repent. Rejoice. Hosanna to the Son of David!
