The doctrines of God.
(De Deo.)
All human knowledge of God is based on God's self-revelation. A so-called absolute knowledge of God independent of God's self-revelation is impossible because God dwells in a light inaccessible to men, 1 Tim. 6:16: φώς οΐκών άπρόσιτον. God's self-revelation is present in two ways: a. in God's creation or the realm of nature, b. in God's Word or Holy Scriptures. The Holy Scriptures are for our time the only source and norm of Christian doctrines. According to this, we distinguish a natural and a Christian knowledge of God.
