George Stoeckhardt served as a confessional Lutheran pastor and professor in St. Louis, and he is remembered for doctrinal clarity joined to careful exposition of Scripture. His preaching keeps returning to Christ as the promised fulfillment of the prophets.
The first work gathered here is his Advent Sermons, a sustained series on major Old Testament promises that begins with Genesis 3:15 and unfolds through the prophetic witness the church hears especially during Advent.
