1 Chronicles 7

1 The sons of Issachar: Tola, Puah, Jashub, and Shimron—four in all.

2 The sons of Tola: Uzzi, Rephaiah, Jeriel, Jahmai, Ibsam, and Shemuel, the heads of their families. In the days of David, 22,600 descendants of Tola were numbered in their genealogies as mighty men of valor.

3 The son of Uzzi: Izrahiah. The sons of Izrahiah: Michael, Obadiah, Joel, and Isshiah. All five of them were chiefs.

4 In addition to them, according to their genealogy, they had 36,000 troops for battle, for they had many wives and children.

5 Their kinsmen belonging to all the families of Issachar who were mighty men of valor totaled 87,000, as listed in their genealogies.

6 The three sons of Benjamin: Bela, Becher, and Jediael.

7 The sons of Bela: Ezbon, Uzzi, Uzziel, Jerimoth, and Iri, heads of their families—five in all. There were 22,034 mighty men of valor listed in their genealogies.

8 The sons of Becher: Zemirah, Joash, Eliezer, Elioenai, Omri, Jeremoth, Abijah, Anathoth, and Alemeth; all these were Becher’s sons.

9 Their genealogies were recorded according to the heads of their families—20,200 mighty men of valor.

10 The son of Jediael: Bilhan. The sons of Bilhan: Jeush, Benjamin, Ehud, Chenaanah, Zethan, Tarshish, and Ahishahar.

11 All these sons of Jediael were heads of their families, mighty men of valor; there were 17,200 fit for battle.

12 The Shuppites and Huppites were descendants of Ir, and the Hushites were descendants of Aher.

13 The sons of Naphtali: Jahziel, Guni, Jezer, and Shallum—the descendants of Bilhah.

14 The descendants of Manasseh: Asriel through his Aramean concubine. She also gave birth to Machir the father of Gilead.

15 Machir took a wife from among the Huppites and Shuppites. The name of his sister was Maacah. Another descendant was named Zelophehad, who had only daughters.

16 Machir’s wife Maacah gave birth to a son, and she named him Peresh. His brother was named Sheresh, and his sons were Ulam and Rekem.

17 The son of Ulam: Bedan. These were the sons of Gilead son of Machir, the son of Manasseh.

18 His sister Hammolecheth gave birth to Ishhod, Abiezer, and Mahlah.

19 And these were the sons of Shemida: Ahian, Shechem, Likhi, and Aniam.

20 The descendants of Ephraim: Shuthelah, Bered his son, Tahath his son, Eleadah his son, Tahath his son,

21 Zabad his son, and Shuthelah his son. Ezer and Elead were killed by the natives of Gath, because they went down to steal their livestock.

22 Their father Ephraim mourned for many days, and his relatives came to comfort him.

23 And again he slept with his wife, and she conceived and gave birth to a son. So he named him Beriah, because tragedy had come upon his house.

24 His daughter was Sheerah, who built Lower and Upper Beth-horon, as well as Uzzen-sheerah.

25 Additionally, Rephah was his son, Resheph his son, Telah his son, Tahan his son,

26 Ladan his son, Ammihud his son, Elishama his son,

27 Nun his son, and Joshua his son.

28 Their holdings and settlements included Bethel and its villages, Naaran to the east, Gezer and its villages to the west, and Shechem and its villages as far as Ayyah and its villages.

29 And along the borders of Manasseh were Beth-shean, Taanach, Megiddo, and Dor, together with their villages. The descendants of Joseph son of Israel lived in these towns.

30 The children of Asher: Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, Beriah, and their sister Serah.

31 The sons of Beriah: Heber, as well as Malchiel, who was the father of Birzaith.

32 Heber was the father of Japhlet, Shomer, and Hotham, and of their sister Shua.

33 The sons of Japhlet: Pasach, Bimhal, and Ashvath. These were Japhlet’s sons.

34 The sons of Shemer: Ahi, Rohgah, Hubbah, and Aram.

35 The sons of his brother Helem: Zophah, Imna, Shelesh, and Amal.

36 The sons of Zophah: Suah, Harnepher, Shual, Beri, Imrah,

37 Bezer, Hod, Shamma, Shilshah, Ithran, and Beera.

38 The sons of Jether: Jephunneh, Pispa, and Ara.

39 The sons of Ulla: Arah, Hanniel, and Rizia.

40 All these were the descendants of Asher—heads of their families, choice and mighty men of valor, and chiefs among the leaders. The number of men fit for battle, recorded in their genealogies, was 26,000.

1 ¶ Now the sons of Issachar [were], Tola, and Puah, Jashub, and Shimron, four.

2 And the sons of Tola; Uzzi, and Rephaiah, and Jeriel, and Jahmai, and Jibsam, and Shemuel, heads of their father's house, [to wit], of Tola: [they were] valiant men of might in their generations; whose number [was] in the days of David two and twenty thousand and six hundred.

3 And the sons of Uzzi; Izrahiah: and the sons of Izrahiah; Michael, and Obadiah, and Joel, Ishiah, five: all of them chief men.

4 And with them, by their generations, after the house of their fathers, [were] bands of soldiers for war, six and thirty thousand [men]: for they had many wives and sons.

5 And their brethren among all the families of Issachar [were] valiant men of might, reckoned in all by their genealogies fourscore and seven thousand.

6 [The sons] of Benjamin; Bela, and Becher, and Jediael, three.

7 And the sons of Bela; Ezbon, and Uzzi, and Uzziel, and Jerimoth, and Iri, five; heads of the house of [their] fathers, mighty men of valour; and were reckoned by their genealogies twenty and two thousand and thirty and four.

8 And the sons of Becher; Zemira, and Joash, and Eliezer, and Elioenai, and Omri, and Jerimoth, and Abiah, and Anathoth, and Alameth. All these [are] the sons of Becher.

9 And the number of them, after their genealogy by their generations, heads of the house of their fathers, mighty men of valour, [was] twenty thousand and two hundred.

10 The sons also of Jediael; Bilhan: and the sons of Bilhan; Jeush, and Benjamin, and Ehud, and Chenaanah, and Zethan, and Tharshish, and Ahishahar.

11 All these the sons of Jediael, by the heads of their fathers, mighty men of valour, [were] seventeen thousand and two hundred [soldiers], fit to go out for war [and] battle.

12 Shuppim also, and Huppim, the children of Ir, [and] Hushim, the sons of Aher.

13 The sons of Naphtali; Jahziel, and Guni, and Jezer, and Shallum, the sons of Bilhah.

14 The sons of Manasseh; Ashriel, whom she bare: ([but] his concubine the Aramitess bare Machir the father of Gilead:

15 And Machir took to wife [the sister] of Huppim and Shuppim, whose sister's name [was] Maachah;) and the name of the second [was] Zelophehad: and Zelophehad had daughters.

16 And Maachah the wife of Machir bare a son, and she called his name Peresh; and the name of his brother [was] Sheresh; and his sons [were] Ulam and Rakem.

17 And the sons of Ulam; Bedan. These [were] the sons of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh.

18 And his sister Hammoleketh bare Ishod, and Abiezer, and Mahalah.

19 And the sons of Shemida were, Ahian, and Shechem, and Likhi, and Aniam.

20 ¶ And the sons of Ephraim; Shuthelah, and Bered his son, and Tahath his son, and Eladah his son, and Tahath his son,

21 And Zabad his son, and Shuthelah his son, and Ezer, and Elead, whom the men of Gath [that were] born in [that] land slew, because they came down to take away their cattle.

22 And Ephraim their father mourned many days, and his brethren came to comfort him.

23 And when he went in to his wife, she conceived, and bare a son, and he called his name Beriah, because it went evil with his house.

24 (And his daughter [was] Sherah, who built Bethhoron the nether, and the upper, and Uzzensherah.)

25 And Rephah [was] his son, also Resheph, and Telah his son, and Tahan his son,

26 Laadan his son, Ammihud his son, Elishama his son,

27 Non his son, Jehoshua his son.

28 And their possessions and habitations [were], Bethel and the towns thereof, and eastward Naaran, and westward Gezer, with the towns thereof; Shechem also and the towns thereof, unto Gaza and the towns thereof:

29 And by the borders of the children of Manasseh, Bethshean and her towns, Taanach and her towns, Megiddo and her towns, Dor and her towns. In these dwelt the children of Joseph the son of Israel.

30 The sons of Asher; Imnah, and Isuah, and Ishuai, and Beriah, and Serah their sister.

31 And the sons of Beriah; Heber, and Malchiel, who [is] the father of Birzavith.

32 And Heber begat Japhlet, and Shomer, and Hotham, and Shua their sister.

33 And the sons of Japhlet; Pasach, and Bimhal, and Ashvath. These [are] the children of Japhlet.

34 And the sons of Shamer; Ahi, and Rohgah, Jehubbah, and Aram.

35 And the sons of his brother Helem; Zophah, and Imna, and Shelesh, and Amal.

36 The sons of Zophah; Suah, and Harnepher, and Shual, and Beri, and Imrah,

37 Bezer, and Hod, and Shamma, and Shilshah, and Ithran, and Beera.

38 And the sons of Jether; Jephunneh, and Pispah, and Ara.

39 And the sons of Ulla; Arah, and Haniel, and Rezia.

40 All these [were] the children of Asher, heads of [their] father's house, choice [and] mighty men of valour, chief of the princes. And the number throughout the genealogy of them that were apt to the war [and] to battle [was] twenty and six thousand men.

1 The children of Levi were: Gershom, Kahath and Meran.

2 And the sons of Kohath were: Amram, Jezehar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

3 The sons of Amram were: Aaron, Moses, and Miriam. The children of Aaron were: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.

4 Eleazar begat Phinehas. Phinehas begat Abishua.

5 Abisua begat Buki. Buki begat Usi.

6 Uzzi begat Seraiah. Seraiah begat Meraioth.

7 Meraioth begat Amariah. Amariah begat Ahitob.

8 Ahitob begat Zadok. Zadok begat Ahimaaz.

9 Ahimaaz begat Azariah. Azariah bore witness to Johanan.

10 Johanan begat Azariah the priest of the house which Solomon built in Jerusalem.

11 Azariah begat Amariah. Amariah bore witness to Ahitob.

12 Ahitob begat Zadok. Zadok begat Shallum.

13 Shallum begat Hilkiah. Hilkiah begat Azariah.

14 Azariah begat Seraiah. Seraiah begat Jozadak.

15 And Jehozadak was carried away with them, when the LORD carried away captive Judah and Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar.

16 Now therefore the sons of Levi are these: Gershom, Kahath, Meran.

17 And these are the names of the sons of Gershom; Libni and Shimei.

18 And the names of the sons of Kohath are Amram, and Jezehar, and Hebron, and Uzziel.

19 The sons of Merari; their names are Maheli and Musi. These are the families of the Levites under their fathers.

20 And the son of Gershom was Libni, and the son of Jahath, and the son of Shima;

21 His son was Joah; his son was Iddo; his son was Zerah; his son was Jeathrai.

22 And Kohath's son was Amminadab; and his son's son was Korah; and his son's son was Assir;

23 His son was Elkanah; his son was Abiassaph; his son was Assir;

24 His son was Tahath; his son was Uriel; his son was Uzziah; his son was Saul.

25 The sons of Elkanah were Amasai and Ahimoth;

26 His son was Elkanah; his son was Elkanah of Zoph; his son was Nahath;

27 His son was Eliab; his son was Jeroham; his son was Elkanah;

28 His son was Samuel; his firstborn was Vasni, and Abijah.

29 Merari's son was Maheli; his son was Libni; his son was Shimei; his son was Uzzah;

30 And his son's son was Shimea; and his son's son was Haggiah; and his son's son was Asaiah.

31 And these are they which David set to sing in the house of the LORD, where the ark rested;

32 And they ministered before the tabernacle of the congregation with singing, until Solomon had built the house of the LORD in Jerusalem: and they continued in their service after their manner.

33 And these are they that tarried, and their children. Of the sons of Kohath was Heman the singer, the son of Joel, the son of Samuel,

34 The son of Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Eliel, the son of Toah,

35 The son of Zuph, the son of Elkanah, the son of Mahath, the son of Amasai,

36 The son of Elkanah, the son of Joel, the son of Azariah, the son of Zephaniah,

37 The son of Tahath, the son of Assir, the son of Abiasaph, the son of Korah,

38 The son of Jezehar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, the son of Israel.

39 And Assaph his brother stood on his right hand. And Assaph was the son of Berechiah the son of Simea,

40 The son of Michael, the son of Baiseiah, the son of Malchijah,

41 The son of Athni, the son of Zerah, the son of Adaiah,

42 The son of Ethan, the son of Shima, the son of Simei,

43 The son of Jahath, the son of Gershom, the son of Levi.

44 And their brethren the sons of Merari were on the left hand: namely, Ethan the son of Cushi, the son of Abdi, the son of Malluch,

45 The son of Hashabiah, the son of Amaziah, the son of Hilkiah.

46 The son of Amzi, the son of Bani, the son of Samer,

47 The son of Maheli, the son of Mushi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi.

48 And their brethren the Levites were given to do all manner of work in the tabernacle of the house of the LORD.

49 And Aaron and his sons were in charge to burn upon the altar of burnt offering, and upon the altar of incense, and to do all the business in the most holy place, and to make an atonement for Israel, as Moses the servant of GOD commanded.

50 And these are the sons of Aaron; Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, Abishua his son;

51 His son was Buki; his son was Uzzi; his son was Zerahiah;

52 His son was Meraioth; his son was Amariah; his son was Ahitob;

53 His son's name was Zadok; his son's name was Ahimaaz.

54 And this is their dwelling place, and their habitation within their borders, even the children of Aaron, of the family of the Kohathites: for the lot fell upon them.

55 And they gave them Hebron in the land of Judah, and the suburbs thereof round about.

56 And the field of the city, and the villages thereof, gave they unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

57 And they gave unto the children of Aaron the cities of refuge, Hebron, and Libnah, and their suburbs; Jather, and Esthemoa, and their suburbs,

58 Hilen, Debir,

59 Asan and Beth-shemes with their suburbs;

60 And of the tribe of Benjamin, Geba, and Alemeth, and Anathoth, with their suburbs: all the cities of their family were thirteen.

61 And the rest of the sons of Kohath of their family, of the half tribe of Manasseh, were given ten cities by lot.

62 And unto the sons of Gershom of their family, out of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the tribe of Manasseh, were thirteen cities in Bashan.

63 And unto the sons of Merari of their family were given by lot out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.

64 And the children of Israel also gave unto the Levites cities with their suburbs,

65 Namely, by lot, out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, and out of the tribe of the children of Benjamin, the cities which they had appointed by name.

66 But unto the families of the children of Kohath were cities of their border out of the tribe of Ephraim.

67 And they gave unto them, even to the family of the other sons of Kohath, the free cities, Shechem in mount Ephraim, and Gezer.

68 Yakmeam, Beth-horon,

69 ajalon and gath-rimon with their suburbs;

70 And of the half tribe of Manasseh, Aner and Balaam with their suburbs.

71 And to the children of Gershom they gave out of the family of the half tribe of Manasseh, Golan in Bashan, and Ashtaroth with her suburbs.

72 Of the tribe of Issachar: Kedes, Dabrath,

73 Ramoth and Anem with their suburbs.

74 from the tribe of Asher: Masal, Abdon,

75 Hukok and Rehob with their suburbs.

76 of the tribe of Naphtali: Kedesh in Galilee, Hammon, and Kiriathaim with their suburbs.

77 And to the rest of the sons of Merari they gave out of the tribe of Zebulun, Rimmono and Tabor with their suburbs;

78 And on the other side Jordan toward Jericho, toward the sunrising at Jordan, of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer in the wilderness, Jahaz,

79 Kedemoth and Mepaath with their suburbs.

80 from the tribe of Gad: Ramoth in Gilead, Mahanaim,

81 Hesbon and Jaeser with their suburbs;
