Joshua 16

1 The allotment for the descendants of Joseph extended from the Jordan at Jericho to the waters of Jericho on the east, through the wilderness that goes up from Jericho into the hill country of Bethel.

2 It went on from Bethel (that is, Luz) and proceeded to the border of the Archites in Ataroth.

3 Then it descended westward to the border of the Japhletites as far as the border of Lower Beth-horon and on to Gezer, and it ended at the Sea.

4 So Ephraim and Manasseh, the sons of Joseph, received their inheritance.

5 This was the territory of the descendants of Ephraim by their clans: The border of their inheritance went from Ataroth-addar in the east to Upper Beth-horon

6 and out toward the Sea. From Michmethath on the north it turned eastward toward Taanath-shiloh and passed by it to Janoah on the east.

7 From Janoah it went down to Ataroth and Naarah, and then reached Jericho and came out at the Jordan.

8 From Tappuah the border went westward to the Brook of Kanah and ended at the Sea. This was the inheritance of the clans of the tribe of Ephraim,

9 along with all the cities and villages set apart for the descendants of Ephraim within the inheritance of Manasseh.

10 But they did not drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer. So the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites to this day, but they are forced laborers.

1 ¶ And the lot of the children of Joseph fell from Jordan by Jericho, unto the water of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goeth up from Jericho throughout mount Bethel,

2 And goeth out from Bethel to Luz, and passeth along unto the borders of Archi to Ataroth,

3 And goeth down westward to the coast of Japhleti, unto the coast of Bethhoron the nether, and to Gezer: and the goings out thereof are at the sea.

4 So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.

5 ¶ And the border of the children of Ephraim according to their families was [thus]: even the border of their inheritance on the east side was Atarothaddar, unto Bethhoron the upper;

6 And the border went out toward the sea to Michmethah on the north side; and the border went about eastward unto Taanathshiloh, and passed by it on the east to Janohah;

7 And it went down from Janohah to Ataroth, and to Naarath, and came to Jericho, and went out at Jordan.

8 The border went out from Tappuah westward unto the river Kanah; and the goings out thereof were at the sea. This [is] the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim by their families.

9 And the separate cities for the children of Ephraim [were] among the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages.

10 And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute.

1 And the lot fell to the children of Joseph from Jordan toward Jericho unto the waters of Jericho, from the going upward, and the wilderness that goeth up from Jericho through mount Bethel;

2 And come out of Bethel unto Lus, and pass through the border of Archi-artharoth;

3 And he went down toward the west to the border of Japhleti, unto the border of Bethhoron the lower, and unto Gaser: and the end thereof was by the sea.

4 This is the inheritance of the sons of Joseph, of Manasseh, and of Ephraim.

5 The border of the children of Ephraim among their families, their inheritance from the going upward, was Atharoth-adar unto upper Beth-horon;

6 And go out toward the evening at Michmethath, which is toward the north: there she turneth about toward the going up of the city of Thaenath-silo, and goeth through there from the going up toward Janoha;

7 And come down from Janoha unto Atharoth and Naaratha, and touch Jericho, and go out by Jordan.

8 From Tapuah it goeth toward the west to Nahalkanah; and the end thereof is by the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim among their families.

9 And all the border cities, and the villages thereof, of the children of Ephraim, were gathered together for the inheritance of the children of Manasseh.

10 And they drove not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gaser. So the Canaanites abode under Ephraim unto this day, and were made interestable.
