MSB Audio · Psalms 124
Majority Standard Bible
1 A song of ascents. Of David. If the LORD had not been on our side—let Israel now declare—
2 if the LORD had not been on our side when men attacked us,
3 when their anger flared against us, then they would have swallowed us alive,
4 then the floods would have engulfed us, then the torrent would have overwhelmed us,
5 then the raging waters would have swept us away.
6 Blessed be the LORD, who has not given us as prey to their teeth.
7 We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowler; the net is torn, and we have slipped away.
8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
KJV
1 ¶ A Song of degrees of David. If [it had not been] the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;
2 If [it had not been] the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:
3 Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:
4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:
5 Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.
6 ¶ Blessed [be] the LORD, who hath not given us [as] a prey to their teeth.
7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.
8 Our help [is] in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
1545 Luther's English Bible (LED)
God's help in time of need.
1 A song of David in the higher chorus. Where the Lord would not be with us, say Israel,
2 Where the Lord would not be with us if men set themselves against us,
3 So they devoured us alive, when their wrath was kindled against us,
4 So water drowned us, streams went over our souls;
5 Waters went too high over our souls.
6 Blessed be the LORD, because he giveth us no prey in their teeth.
7 Our soul is escaped as a bird from the captor's snare. The rope is broken and we are free.
8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
